Statistics

Currently, statistics on the Irish Criminal Justice system are available from a number of different sources such as the Annual Reports and the websites of the Central Statistics Office, An Garda Síochána, the Courts Service, the Probation Service the Irish Prison Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. There are also several useful publications listed in the Crime in Ireland section of our Research and Literature section. Of particular relevance is Crime and Punishment in Ireland 1992 to 2003 - a Statistical Sourcebook (2005). A National Crime Council Report entitled Crime in Ireland - Trends and patterns 1950 - 1998 is also available.
