The 28^th Dáil was dissolved on 25 April 2002, and the 29^th Dáil was summoned and called together to meet at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday 6 June 2002 by the President, Mary McAleese, on the advice of the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern.

Seanad Éireann General Election 2002

The poll closed at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday 16^th July, 2002 for the panels of candidates, and on Wednesday 17^th July, 2002 for the university seats.

The count for the panel seats began in Leinster House on Tuesday 16 July 2002, and concluded on Friday 19 July 2002.
