Fintan is the Assistant Secretary for Rural Development and Regional Affairs.
Fintan O'Brien is responsible at Assistant Secretary level for the development of policies and programmes to advance the economic and social progress of rural Ireland, in particular through Our Rural Future, Rural Development Policy 2021-2025. He is also responsible for the delivery of a range of regional development objectives, including the Atlantic Economic Corridor initiative, and measures to improve the roll-out of telecommunications services through the Mobile Phone and Broadband Taskforce. Fintan oversees the development and implementation of Ireland’s Social Enterprise policy.
