Minister Dooley attends the Nor-Fishing Exhibition in Trondheim

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for Fisheries, Timmy Dooley TD, attended the Nor-Fishing Exhibition, taking place in Trondheim, Norway from 18-20 August.

Nor-Fishing and its aquaculture counterpart, Aqua-Nor, are amongst the world’s largest technology exhibitions for the fishing and aquaculture sectors, attracting hundreds of exhibitors from Ireland, Europe, and beyond.

Minister Dooley said:

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit the exhibition today and see the latest technological developments in the industry. I also welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Marianne Sivertsen Næss, to discuss topics of mutual interest including the importance of innovation and ocean research.”

Minister Dooley also met with Stephen Morgan MP, recently appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and discussed the challenges and opportunities associated with their respective portfolios.

Commenting on the exhibition, Minister Dooley said:

“Nor-Fishing has long been recognised as one of the leading global events for the seafood and fisheries sector. This has been an excellent opportunity to engage with exhibitors and learn more about the emerging technologies that can benefit the maritime and seafood industries.”
