Mission Minded Cities

The first objective of the Mission is to enable the selected 112 Mission Cities to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. The second objective is to enable all other European cities to follow suit and to reach climate neutrality by 2050. 'Mission Minded Cities' did not qualify as a full 'Mission City' but have shown ambitious climate action and are therefore eligible to benefit from the Mission’s support.

Waterford City and Limerick City are Ireland's 2 Mission Minded Cities. They have shown a strong willingness to engage in the Mission and have been progressing ambitious plans to become climate neutral by 2030.

The Cities Mission Platform – NetZeroCities - provides an inclusive offer to Mission Minded Cities which is structured around 3 main components: tools and resources, capability building and peer learning. The National Mirror Group also supports Mission Minded Cities by inviting them to National Mirror Group meetings to benefit from the collective discussions and insights, thereby ensuring that all 5 Irish cities are included within the Mission approach.
