In May 2013, the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn T.D., announced a review of apprenticeship in Ireland to determine whether the model should be “retained, adapted or replaced by an alternative model of vocational education and training”. The Review has been part of a wide ranging reform programme in the Further Education and Training sector.
