This year, the event will be an Associated Event of the EU Presidency. Associated Presidency Events are organised independently of the Presidency but align with the themes and priorities of Ireland’s EU Presidency and facilitate discussion of important issues at EU level.

Last year’s Annual Education Research Summit saw 200 delegates and over 70 researchers share a rich variety of research projects and the launch of Fíorú, the department’s futures-oriented research network. You can join the Fíorú mailing list here.

The 2026 Summit will again bring together researchers, policymakers and practitioners to share new evidence, ideas and perspectives on education. It will explore how education research connects with key national and international priorities including:

  • Relevant EU Presidency priorities (Education and Skills for the AI era; Child and Youth participation, engagement and dialogue; STEM education; Online safety; Sport, Community and Cultural Heritage)
  • Department of Education and Youth work on long-term planning as part of the Our Schools Our Future strategy (including the areas of School Workforce, School Leadership and Governance and High Quality and Inclusive Education).

The summit will aim to identify patterns and connections between all presenting projects.

A livestream of the opening of the event and keynote address will be available on this webpage.
