Dominant Cities in Small Advanced Economies - Challenges and Policy Responses

The objective of this report is to provide independent research on regional policy in Ireland in comparison with other small advanced economies, produced for the Small Advanced Economies Initiative (SAEI) Plenary Session in December 2018. The paper first discusses the benefits of urban centres and outlines the situation in Ireland and in other countries. It then reviews the development of Irish regional policy before discussing Ireland and the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation’s current policy response.
