The Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D., today congratulated twenty local community groups, educational institutes, and others who have been awarded funding under the Department’s Communicating Europe Initiative scheme. This year, funding of €87,300 has been provided for 20 Communicating Europe Initiative funded projects.
Minister Byrne speaking about the funding congratulated the twenty successful projects said:
"I’m very excited about the range of projects put forward this year under the Communicating Europe Initiative. All of these projects will make extremely valuable contributions to the ongoing public discourse about Ireland’s role in Europe, and in informing citizens on the impact of the EU on their day-to-day lives. Many of the successful projects will be delivered in virtual format, allowing more citizens than ever to get involved and contribute to the discussion.
“Projects funded this year include radio programmes and podcasts on the impact of the EU for Ireland, Brexit preparedness events, online learning courses, and a session at the Kilkenomics Festival to be hosted by David McWilliams. All of which will help to open a conversation on the many ways the EU interacts with our daily lives.”
The Communicating Europe Initiative aims to deepen public awareness and improve the quality and accessibility of public information on European issues.
