"I condemn the violence today in Nablus where an Israeli security force operation resulted in multiple deaths, including a child. I am horrified by the impact on civilians, with injuries to around 100 people.

"As occupying power, Israel is required to protect civilians in the occupied Palestinian territory. The international community, including the UN Security Council earlier this week, has repeatedly called for full respect for international humanitarian law, including the protection of the civilian population."
