Appointments to the Dietitians Registration Board

Following their election by registrants of the profession, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has appointed the following persons as professional members of the Dietitians Registration Board with effect from 20 February 2020 to 13 February 2024:

Ms Claire Browne

Ms Browne qualified as a Dietitian from Trinity College Dublin / Dublin Institute of Technology in 2002. She started her career in St. James’s Hospital working in a range of clinical areas before taking up the post of Dietitian Manager there in 2007. She completed a MA in Healthcare Management in 2012.

In 2014-15, Claire worked as Programme Manager for the National Clinical Programme for Paediatrics and Neonatology where she was heavily involved in the development of the national models of care for Paediatrics and Neonatology.

Ms Browne moved to Temple Street in October 2015 to take up the post of Dietitian Manager In Charge III. In 2016, she completed a Diploma in Quality Improvement and Leadership in Healthcare with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Since 2019, Ms Browne has been working as the Health and Social Care Professions (HSCP) Integration Lead within Children’s Health Ireland planning for the opening of the new children’s hospital and bringing together HSCP services from the three existing children’s hospitals.

Dr Annemarie Bennett

Dr Bennett graduated in 2011 with a First-Class Honours in the BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics programme, run jointly by Trinity College and Technological University Dublin. She completed her PhD in 2016 and took up her current post as Assistant Professor in Dietetics with Trinity in 2017.

She has been involved in third-level teaching since 2012, working in Trinity, Technological University Dublin, and Athlone Institute of Technology. Her current role involves overseeing the development of practice education on the undergraduate programme in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She has led significant improvements in the design and management of undergraduate practice education in dietetics, and is currently part of a national research project determining measures of quality in practice education among all allied health professions.

Alongside her contributions to practice education, she is actively involved in the design, development and implementation of research studies on an ongoing basis, particularly with pregnant couples, infants, school-age children and oesophageal cancer patients. She has also worked with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland to produce policies and documents that translate policies into accessible dietetic advice for food businesses and health professionals nationally.
