Appointments to the Voluntary Health Insurance Board

Following a Public Appointments Service campaign and with the approval of the Central Bank of Ireland, the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD has appointed the following as members of the Voluntary Health Insurance Board. These appointments are from 28 January 2021 to 27 January 2026

Ms. Karen Furlong

Karen Furlong is an experienced Non-Executive Director with more than 25 years experience in finance, technology, insurance, digital transformation, strategy development, business transformation, organisation design and change management. Ms. Furlong is a member of the Institute of Directors and was recently appointed to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board. She currently holds Non-Executive Director roles in Dublin and Belfast.

Mr Peter Cross

Peter Cross is a chartered accountant and Non-Executive Director, currently serving as NED for Ervia (where he also chairs the Audit & Risk Committee) and for Cubic Telecom. He has held senior executive roles in large and complex organisations, including as CFO of eircom and of BT Openreach, and as Group Corporate Finance Director at BT in London. Mr. Cross is also currently the Managing Director of Trasna Corporate Finance, a post he has held since 2011.
