Reappointments to the Consultative Council on Hep C

On the nomination of the Irish Haemophilia Society, the Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD has reappointed the following as members of the Consultative Council on Hepatitis C with effect from 21 December 2025 until 20 December 2028.
Mr Brian O’Mahony
Mr Brian O’Mahony is the Chief Executive of the Irish Haemophilia Society, a former President of both the World Federation of Haemophilia and the European Haemophilia Consortium. He is a former board member of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service and former Chairperson of their research committee. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and two editions of a tender and procurement guidebook for WFH. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (Ireland) and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (UK). He has post graduate qualifications in Management and in Occupational Health and Safety and is currently an assistant adjunct Professor in Health Service Management in Trinity College, Dublin. Brian was born with severe Haemophilia B and is currently participating in a gene therapy clinical trial.
Ms Deborah Greene
Ms Deborah Greene has worked for the Irish Haemophilia Society (IHS) since 2003. Ms Greene is the current Administrator/Office Manager having taken up this role in May 2009. Ms Greene represents the Society on the statutory National Haemophilia Council and on the Consultative Council for Hepatitis C. Ms Greene is responsible for the day-to-day running and administration of the office and staffing. Ms Greene oversees all IHS events, administers educational grants, attends monthly board meetings, attends regular team meetings with the Comprehensive Care Centres, and oversees the apartment facility for members and outreach to members. Ms Greene has also been involved with and has actively taken part in the World Federation of Haemophilia Twinning Programme since 2005 with Bosnia & Herzegovina, Vietnam and Jordan.
