Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

If you’re looking to turn an empty property into a home, The Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant can help you get moving.

It provides funding to renovate vacant or derelict properties, whether you plan to live there yourself or rent it out. You can even convert former commercial spaces, like buildings above shops, into homeswith the right planning permission.

To qualify, the property must have been vacant for at least two years, built before 2008, and located in Ireland. You must own or be buying it and have tax documents in order.

The grant offers up to €50,000 for a vacant property, or up to €70,000 if it’s derelict. It covers major works like structural repairs, roofing, plumbing, and interiors, but not full demolition or energy upgrades already covered by SEAI grants.

You apply through your local authority, and the grant must be approved before any work begins. In return, you must live in or rent out the property for at least ten years; if not, you may have to repay some or all of the funding.

Get moving with the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.
