24 March 1968, Aer Lingus Flight 712 crashed into the sea near Tuskar Rock while on route from Cork to London killing all 61 passengers and crew. 13 bodies were recovered shortly after the accident and were identified and buried. On 11 May 1968 the decomposed remains of a male adult were recovered near the location of the crash. The post mortem carried out concluded that the injuries were consistent with someone involved in a plane crash. Remains never identified. March 2000 exhumation carried out for DNA
