Minister Humphreys announces six appointments to the board of Pobal

- Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced the appointment of six directors to the board of Pobal.
- Pobal work on behalf of the Government of Ireland to support social inclusion and local and community development - delivering approximately 40 programmes, schemes and services on behalf of five government departments and other bodies.
- Pobal distributed €765 million to local and national community organisations in 2021.
- The Minister welcomed the appointment of the new board members, who were selected through a process of assessment overseen by her Department.
The following new members were appointed to the board:
- Dr. Breda McTaggartt.
- John Curran
- Niall Garvey
- Derville Brennan
- Sean Sheridan
- Pat Bennett
Making the announcement, Minister Humphreys said:
“There were many expressions of interest for the vacancies on the Board of Pobal and I want to thank everyone who took the time to apply. Pobal is a key delivery partner for many Government Departments. Since the 1990s they have assisted Government in the delivery of countless schemes and programmes. I am delighted to see the appointment of new talent to the board of what is a very important body.”
The Minister added:
“I would like to thank the outgoing board members and commend them for their significant contributions, dedication and personal commitment. I wish them well in the future.”

- Pobal operate under the aegis of the Department of Rural and Community Development.
