Circumstances that will not be considered

To ensure fairness, consistency and the integrity of the Scheme, the following will not be accepted as grounds for a late application:

  • Lack of awareness of the Scheme;

  • Business pressures or workload commitments;
  • Waiting to gather information that could reasonably have been obtained during the application period;
  • Mistaken assumptions regarding eligibility;
  • Choosing not to apply and subsequently changing your mind;

Assessment of requests

The Department reserves the right to:

  • Verify information provided by applicants;
  • Reject requests where evidence is insufficient;
  • Consider whether the applicant acted promptly once the exceptional circumstances ceased.

Each request will be assessed individually.

The submission of a request does not create an entitlement to submit a late RTSS application.

Successful requests

Submitting a request does not guarantee that you will be permitted to make a late application. Each request will be assessed on its own merits, and permission to submit a late application will only be granted in exceptional circumstances where sufficient supporting evidence is provided.

Permission to submit a late application does not imply that an RTSS application will subsequently be approved. Any application submitted through the dedicated portal will be assessed in accordance with the RTSS eligibility criteria and Scheme requirements.
