Donegal County Council proposes to carry out the following proposed development in the townlands of Rockhill, Rinnaraw, Sandhill and Kill parallel to the N56 between Portnablagh and Dunfanaghy in accordance with the drawings and documents associated with the Part 8 application:
- the scheme introduces a shared pedestrian and cyclist facility on the south side of the N56, this 3.0 m wide shared pedestrian and cyclist facility, elevated to kerb height. A landscaped buffer, also at kerb height, is provided between the facility and the carriageway, ranging from 0.5 m to 1.0 m depending on space available. Where the buffer reduces to below 0.5 m, the facility will be narrowed to 2.5 m to allow for a wider buffer
- the carriageway is narrowed to 6.25 - 6.75 m to accommodate the active travel facility and buffer, while maintaining two-way traffic, while ensuring a 0.5m hard shoulder on the south side of the carriageway and keeping the north side untouched
- buffer areas to be landscaped to act as a separator and to reinforce user comfort
