Peter Dennehy
Peter graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1986 with BA, BAI in Engineering and worked in the telecommunications industry in Ireland and the UK. He went on to work on International Standards as the Head of Conformity Assessment at the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in Geneva, Switzerland. On his return to Ireland, he worked in senior management roles in the Road Safety Authority (RSA), the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). Peter studied Law at Kings Inns and is a practicing Barrister (BL) at the Bar of Ireland in the areas of General Practice, Regulatory Law, Planning, Environmental & Climate Law, Company Law & Judicial Review. Peter is a Chartered Engineer and is an Accredited Mediator and Arbitrator. He is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland (FIEI) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).
Dr. Paula Barry Walsh
Paula graduated in 1982 as a veterinary practitioner from UCD (NUI). She has completed a Masters in Applied Food Science, a Certificate in Welfare, Ethics and Law, and a Certificate in Corporate Governance. Paula was Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) from 2012 to 2021 with responsibilities spanning the One Health, One Welfare spectrum. She was a member of the Management Board of DAFM 2015-2021, and a member of the Internal Audit Committee of DAFM 2018 – 2021 and chaired the Gender Balance Committee in DAFM 2016-2020.
Currently Paula is a board member of the Veterinary Council of Ireland and a member of the Food Safety Consultative Council of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. Formerly she served on the Scientific Committee of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland 2016-2020. Paula has been appointed to the PSI Council as a public interest nominee.
Ann McGarry
Ann is a graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology (Applied Physics) and a postgraduate of University College Dublin (MSc and PhD Physics). She is also Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors. Ann has almost twenty years board-level experience in national regulatory organisations, having served as Chief Executive of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland and as a Director of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities. She has extensive knowledge of the implementation of safety regulatory frameworks and statutory registration schemes and is experienced in organisational leadership, change management and the development and implementation of strategy.
Ms Dorothy Donovan
Ms Donovan has been selected from a Public Appointments Service panel. Ms Donovan, LL.B., LL.M., Barrister at law has fourteen years’ experience as a practising barrister and has spent a significant portion of this time dealing with regulatory law and professional negligence cases.
She was a Council Member of CORU (The Health & Social Care Professionals Council) from 2010 to 2013. During this time, she acted as Chair of the Fitness to Practise Committee, the Finance Committee and a member of the Audit & Risk Committee. Ms Donovan was a Vice-Chair of the Employment Appeals Tribunal for 7 years.
