Reappointments to the National Haemophilia Council

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has re-appointed the following members to the National Haemophilia Council for a three year period commencing 25 October 2019.
Dr. Ruth Gilmore is a Consultant in Haematology at Galway University Hospital, having previously worked at the National Centre Hereditary Coagulation Disorders in St James’s Hospital. She holds a Masters in Medical Informatics as well as an MD on Thrombin Generation from Trinity College Dublin. Her research interests include rare bleeding disorders, thrombin generation and the use of computers in Health Care.
Ms. Deborah Greene has worked for Irish Haemophilia Society (I.H.S.) since 2003. Ms. Greene is the current Administrator having taken up this role in May 2009. Ms. Greene oversees the day to day running of the office including all event management, website & social media, staffing, support and services to members, and is editor of I.H.S. publications. Ms. Greene is a member of the Irish Haemostasis Research Foundation and is also involved with the World Federation of Haemophilia Twinning Programme.
Mr. Brian O’Mahony is the Chief Executive of the Irish Haemophilia Society, having previously served as Chair. He is President of the European Haemophilia Consortium and previously he was President of the World Federation of Hemophilia for 10 years. Among his activities are writing, advocating, facilitating training on strategic planning, national procurement systems, and lobbying. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine. He also has professional qualifications in occupational health and safety and in management and holds an assistant adjunct Professors post in Trinity College, Dublin.
Dr. Alison Dougall is a dentist and is the Consultant/Asst Prof Medically Compromised Patients at the Dublin University Dental Hospital and Trinity College Dublin. She is President of the World Federation for Haemophilia Dental Division and the editor of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health. She is director of the doctorate programme in special care dentistry at Trinity College Dublin and in 2015 she won the HMI health leader award for her work around oral health promotion for people with haemophilia in Ireland.
Dr David Vaughan is the Director of Quality and Safety and a consultant respiratory paediatrician in the Children’s Hospital Group. He previously worked as the Executive Director of Quality and patient Safety at the Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, the Director of Leadership, Quality and Safety at the Royal College of Physicians and a Consultant Paediatrician and Respiratory Paediatrician at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
