Dr Vivienne Byers
Dr Vivienne Byers is currently a research manager in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in the HRB Centre for Primary Care Research, as well as Adjunct Senior Lecturer/Research Fellow in Health Policy/Management at the Environmental Sustainability & Health Institute (ESHI-TU Dublin).
In her previous position as Vice Dean of Postgraduate Studies & Research, she led and managed the postgraduate and research portfolio (School of Business, National College of Ireland). This included developing and promoting the research agenda for both staff and students (including doctoral students in partnership with Maynooth University). She researches in healthcare and public sector policy and has extensive experience as a lecturer and in academic administration for over 20 years in the Technological University Dublin/NCI, as well as associate lecturer with University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin and the Institute of Public Administration. Dr Byers current research activity in health policy/management and leadership is developed through her roles as Adjunct Senior Lecturer/Research Fellow with TU Dublin, affiliate researcher with University of Gothenburg and University of Malta, as well as via EU and national research funding.
During her earlier career she had significant experience working in the health services, in service management, community health and outreach, team building, recruitment, sponsorship in Ireland and abroad, both as a clinical services manager and as a health professional.
