The Deputy Secretary has responsibility, for the working age schemes, both policy and operational aspects. They take a particular interest in governance issues and, as the title implies, can deputise for the Secretary General (SG) in certain circumstances. They are also a member of the Management Board of the Department of Education, reflecting her responsibilities in relation to the delivery of Pathways to Work.
