The department and all agencies in the Justice Sector are committed to safeguarding children from harm, in accordance with the Children First Act, 2015 and best practice as set out in Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children (Department of Children and Youth Affairs, 2017).
In accordance with section 27 of the Children First Act, the Minister for Justice has prepared a Children First Sectoral Implementation Plan which outlines how the department and the wider Justice sector will comply with the Act and the National Guidance.
In addition, the Department of Justice has prepared an overarching Child Safeguarding Statement in accordance with section 11 of the Act.
