Commencement of the department's fourth Language Scheme 2022 – 2025

The Department of Defence today announced the commencement of its fourth Language Scheme covering the period 2022 to 2025. The Scheme, which came into effect on 2 February, 2022, was prepared in accordance with Section 15 of the Official Languages Act, 2003. The objective of the new Scheme is to further enhance the provision of services through Irish and it continues the work that was initiated in the department’s previous schemes. The Scheme is available for viewing on the department’s website.
Commenting on the introduction of the new Language Scheme, Minister Coveney said:
"I very much welcome the introduction of this, the department’s fourth Language Scheme. It builds on the progress of earlier Schemes and will seek to further enhance the delivery of departmental services through Irish. I look forward to continued progress in this regard.”
