Today (Thursday), Ireland welcomed representatives of six International Financial Institutions (IFI), including several regional Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), and development agencies to Dublin to raise awareness of the opportunities available to Irish companies to tender for IFI-funded contracts in markets around the world. Irish businesses also had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one meetings with procurement staff from the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, UNIDO and the World Bank Group.
Opening the conference, Michael D'Arcy TD, Minister of State for Financial Services, commented that,
“IFI contracts can provide an important initial stepping stone for Irish companies into new overseas markets and can facilitate export market diversification. The promotion of IFI tendering opportunities, through events such as today’s conference, aligns with the aims of the Government’s Ireland Connected trade strategy and the objectives of the Global Ireland initiative. It also allows us to highlight the calibre of Irish businesses and their ability to offer innovative solutions to help these IFIs deliver on their respective mandates.”
Speaking at the conference held in Enterprise Ireland, Tom Kelly, Divisional Manager Innovation and Competitiveness, Enterprise Ireland said,
“International tendering offers significant opportunities for Irish businesses who want to expand their reach into overseas markets. Enterprise Ireland has built up strong relationships with procurement departments in financial institutions like the World Bank, EIB, Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank whom we welcome here for the first time. As well as engaging with International Financial Institutions, Irish businesses attending today’s event will also get advice and tips from tendering experts and hear from companies who have experience in the tendering process.”
The conference was organised by Enterprise Ireland in collaboration with the Department of Finance, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Geoscience Ireland.
