McConalogue consults the Monitoring Committee on the 10th Amendment of the Rural Development Programme

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D., confirmed today that consultation on the tenth amendment to the Rural Development Programme (RDP) has now commenced.
Announcing the consultation process, Minister McConalogue stated,
“This is an important amendment to the Rural Development Programme. It will formally put in place the EAFRD and EURI funding that was agreed at EU level last year, and will build on the RDP measures already in place as well as supporting farmers and rural communities to contribute to the green economic recovery. The amendment is now being referred to the Monitoring Committee for consideration, and will be submitted to the European Commission for its approval later in the month.”
The draft proposals provide for the implementation of measures during the two-year transitional period between the 2014-2020 RDP and the new CAP Strategic Plan.
The amendment will ensure continuity of existing measures in the Programme for the transitional period, as well as targeting EU Recovery Instrument (EURI) funding of almost €190m towards addressing biodiversity, climate and environment challenges, and promoting economic and social development in rural areas.
Concluding, the Minister said,
“Further announcements on the related schemes will be made in the coming weeks following consultation with the Monitoring Committee and agreement on the amendment with the European Commission.”
