Minister Martin announces over €125,000 in funding for the promotion of Irish arts

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, announced further funding of €126,780 by Culture Ireland for the promotion of Irish arts globally in 2021. The funding is to support 23 projects presenting Irish film, literature, music, theatre and the visual arts worldwide.
Announcing the awards Minister Martin said:
"It is vital that we support our artists as they work in new and innovative ways through these unprecedented times. I am delighted that this support, through Culture Ireland, will help many artists continue to present their work online achieving global reach at festivals from the US to the UK, and from Europe to Asia throughout March."
The projects being funded in this grant round include online presentations of Fishamble’s On Blueberry Hill by Sebastian Barry and Silent by Pat Kinevane with international partners and the live streaming of Dead Centre’s recent work To be a Machine at Noorderzen Festival of Performing Arts and Society in Groningen, The Netherlands and Kampagel Festival in Hamburg, Germany.
Music online performances include Mick Flannery and Susan O'Neill at Cork Opera House, which will reach the US through a partnership with North American venues as well as Great Music in Irish Houses Festival Online which will be presented in Britain in June 2021.
A solo exhibition, Summer Roomby Bea McMahon, will be presented at Treignac Projet, Treignac, France in June-August 2021 and Between You and Me, by MART Gallery, will be presented in Los Angeles. Support has been awarded for Irish films to be screened by Screen America in its 2021 online season and by Toronto Irish Film Festival in May.
On the literature front, Dublin Book Festival will present nine Irish authors at Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival, Québec, Canada, 28 April - 2 May 2021, and at Solas Nua in Washington DC in June 2021 Culture Ireland’s support for online activity ensures that Irish artists can reach a worldwide audience, including territories where artists may not previously have had physical presentations of their work.
