The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross, TD, today welcomed the appointment of the new interim CEO to the FAI, Gary Owens. This afternoon, Minister Ross met with Mr Owens to discuss his plans for reform at the FAI.
Minister Ross said, “This is another important step on the pathway to reform for the FAI. There is a great body of further work to be done, from financial restructuring to constitutional change. While the board has seen positive changes in recent weeks, the council structure remains in need of complete overhaul. We look forward to working with Gary and the new board to ensure that there is no return of the old guard.”
Minister Ross and the Minister of State with responsibility for Tourism and Sport, Mr. Brendan Griffin, TD, look forward to engaging further with all stakeholders in their efforts to secure the future of Irish football.
