The Minister of Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath TD, is seeking expressions of interest for appointment to the Public Service Innovation Advisory Board. This board is being established pursuant to Action 4.1.2 of the Public Service Innovation Strategy, 'Making Innovation Real' , which was published by the Department in November 2020.
The purpose of the Public Service Innovation Advisory Board is to monitor the effective implementation of the Public Service Innovation Strategy by providing relevant advice and to challenge the Public Service on innovation policy and activity. The Board will also provide recommendations to the Public Service Reform Unit on best practice and emerging trends to influence innovation activities within and across the Public Service.
It is proposed that the Public Service Innovation Advisory Board will comprise innovation experts from private industry and academia. Additional representatives will come from non-commercial state agencies, the Civil Service, Health, Education, Local Government, Justice and Defence areas of the Public Service. All members will be expected to be experienced in the discipline of innovation.
Speaking on the launch of the process, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath TD said:
"The role of the Public Service Innovation Advisory Board will be vital in providing the diverse perspectives required to encourage innovation across the Public Service in Ireland.
