A central portal for people to participate in public consultations
Minister of State with special responsibility for Public Procurement, Open Government and eGovernment, Patrick O’Donovan TD, today (Thursday 20 September) formally launched the public consultations portal on gov.ie/consultations.
The launch of the portal delivers on the commitment in the government’s programme to establish an easily accessible portal to provide details of all public consultations at local, regional and national levels.
Public consultations provide an important opportunity for the public to input directly into matters which affect them and their communities.
People will be able to subscribe to the portal and get an email notification of new consultations. They will also be able to share details of a consultation by email and on social media.
Minister O'Donovan said:
“The launch of the public consultations portal on gov.ie, will allow people to easily find and share invitations to contribute to decision making that affects them.
The launch of this public consultations portal is a key step to improving our methods of digital engagement. Digital engagement will be a key tool in the future to meet people’s expectations of more immediate and responsive engagement and in turn, better policies and services.”

gov.ie is a central portal for online government services, allowing citizens the ability to search and find all government services in a single, convenient manner. Public services have been catalogued and entered into the portal, with new services constantly being added. Over time more government information and services will be consolidated onto this portal, making it easier to interact with government online.
