Employment opportunities for the Roma community

Following on from the launch of the report 'Roma in Ireland – a National Needs Assessment' in January 2018, the Department of Justice and Equality is inviting proposals to generate employment opportunities for members of the Roma community.
Funding has been secured from the Dormant Accounts Fund for 2019 and 2020 for this purpose. Total funding available for 2019 is € 500,000 to be divided into lots of between €50,000 - €75,000 per proposal with a similar amount available in 2020.
Minister of State David Stanton TD said:
"With general unemployment rates at around 5%, the time is right to focus on employment opportunities for the marginalised groups in our communities. The Roma Needs Assessment report highlights that the Roma community are in need of support to promote their social integration and help raise them out of poverty. There is considerable flexibility for this proposal which can include new projects or social enterprise models. Proposals can also build on existing projects centred on a different client group."
The Minister added that proposals should include the necessary English language training and job readiness training, where required.
The closing date for applications is 16 November 2018 (at 5pm) and should be submitted to ntris@justice.ie

Each proposal should outline the proposed approach of the service provider to develop and implement the employment-focussed initiative.
Applicants must be legally constituted at the point of signing a grant agreement and must be able to enter into a legally binding grant agreement.
If more than one organisation is applying for the funds, one organisation must be selected to be the lead applicant. If successful, it is this lead applicant who will sign the grant agreement and will carry the liability for ensuring its terms are met by them and all delivery partners.
Applicants may make only one application. However, an application may include more than one project and may be for core funding. In the application form, information should be provided separately on each element of the application.
The proposal should demonstrate the service providers experience in:
- the design and delivery of similar type programs
- experience of working with the Roma Community or other marginalised groups
Completed application forms should be submitted to ntris@justice.ie by 5pm on 16 November 2018.
The subject line should include the text 'Roma Employment Programme Proposal'.
Proposals that are submitted late or incomplete will not be considered.
