The Government Digital Wallet app is maintained by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform and works in conjunction with the life events portal. The Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform fully respects your right to privacy, and will not collect any personal information about you on this app without your clear and explicit permission.
Any personal information that you volunteer will be treated securely and confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection Acts 1988-2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This statement aims to provide you with a summary of our data privacy practices in connection with the app.
Information we collect
We may collect and process the following personal data about you:
Work Email Address: Collected to verify you are a public servant.
Device Email Address: Collected to on board you to the correct testing platform.
First Name and Last Name: MyGovID first name and last name are processed for the purposes of a pilot service to provide you with a seamless experience.
Email Address: MyGovID email address is processed for the purposes of a pilot service to provide you with a seamless experience.
User ID: Generated for analytical purposes to understand usage patterns and improve the functionality and user experience of our Pilot service.
Collection and use of personal information
We collect and use your personal data for the following purposes:
Service Provision: To provide and maintain our services, including the use of your work email and device email for verification and pilot account setup, authentication, and communication.
Analytics: To analyse usage patterns and improve our services. This includes tracking user interactions and behaviour within our services.
Communication: To send you verification email, on-boarding email and updates related to our Pilot service.
Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
Consent: For sending communications and for on-boarding to the Government Digital Wallet app, where you have given us your explicit consent, and to improve our services and the user experience.
Data retention
We retain your personal data for a period of 5 months to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Government Digital Wallet Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Data sharing and disclosure
We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
Service Providers: Who assist us in providing our services (e.g. hosting providers, analytics services), under strict confidentiality agreements.
Legal Obligations: Where we are required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests.
