How will Sláintecare engage across the health sector?

Published: 8 August 2018
From: Department of Health

Sláintecare is about working together and our shared commitment to the best healthcare we can provide for the Irish people.

This is a large-scale programme of reform which will require a coalition across the health sector to succeed. Change will not happen without the engagement of clinicians, the wider health workforce, service users, service providers, the people of Ireland and everyone else who engages with our health and social care services.

The Sláintecare Report was born out of a rigorous engagement process with stakeholders across the health service. The Sláintecare Implementation Strategy will carry this engagement forward as a key pillar of the reform.

The Sláintecare Advisory Council will play a pivotal role in engaging stakeholders across the health sector. The Council will be made up of clinical staff, academic and international experts and patient representatives in order to ensure that all voices are heard during the reform process. Dr. Tom Keane has been appointed to chair the Sláintecare Advisory Council.

A comprehensive engagement strategy for the workforce and the public, including information sessions, newsletters, web content and social media campaigns will be launched in 2019.
