The Climate Action Plan 2021 reflects Ireland’s commitment to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Actions and targets are set out in the plan aimed at increasing Ireland’s international climate action.
These include:
Ireland has an important role to play in promoting climate action internationally, including in advocacy, finance and adaptation.

Tackling climate change is a global challenge. Ireland’s international climate action is focused on helping the most vulnerable men and women to adapt to climate impacts, and secure a just and fair transition. Ireland is well known for giving a global voice to those most at risk and is committed to increasing funding for climate action.
Climate change also poses a threat to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals . These goals are a United Nations global initiative, to help achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
