Community Childcare Subvention Resettlement (Transitional)

From: Department of Children and Youth Affairs

What Community Childcare Subvention Resettlement (Transitional) is

Community Childcare Subvention Resettlement (Transitional) provides access to free child care for children of families experiencing homelessness.

The provision provides subvention for all preschool children, including those of ECCE eligible age range aged 0-5 inclusive, during the school holidays only.

The scheme is also designed to help those transitioning from homelessness to permanent accommodation.

How to qualify

The eligibility of the applying parent is determined by Focus Ireland (if in the Dublin area)/Local Authority (if outside of Dublin).

A verification letter from Focus Ireland or from their Local Authority is required.

Community Childcare Subvention Resettlement (Transitional) services offer child care places for the following session types:

  • part-time places (between 3 hours 31 minutes and 5 hours per day)
  • sessional places (between 2 hours 16 minutes and 3 hours 30 minutes per day)

Rates of payment

A different payment rate is attributed to each type of placement.

For part-time child care over 5 days per week, a flat rate of €160 per week is paid in relation to each child attending under Community Childcare Subvention Resettlement (Transitional), for the eligible duration of their child care place. A daily meal must be provided for each child, the cost of which is included in the subvention rate.

For sessional child care over 5 days per week, a rate of €87.50 is paid in relation to each child attending for the eligible duration of their child care place. A daily meal is also provided for each child, the cost of which is included in the subvention rate.
