Operators must have permission to provide passenger services at a State-owned Fishery Harbour Centre. The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has overall responsibility for the development of infrastructure at the Fishery Harbour Centres.
The six Fishery Harbour Centres are:
Howth, Co. Dublin
Dunmore East, Co. Waterford
Castletownbere, Co. Cork
Ros an Mhíl, Co. Galway
An Daingean (Dingle), Co. Kerry
Killybegs, Co Donegal
These harbours are managed and operated by the State to promote sea fishing and related industries as well as other economic and social development including leisure facilities.
What you must do
As part of the application for passenger services you must provide full details of proposed passenger operations.
number, frequency, destination and duration of voyages
whether proposed service is permanent, temporary, seasonal or year round
number of anticipated passengers
relevant technical specifications of the vessel
The details of any proposed service must be agreed with the fishery harbour centre concerned.
