This Scheme is intended to assist in the development of the commercial horticulture sector, including beekeeping, by grant aiding capital investments in specialised buildings and equipment.
The Scheme is now open to applications for proposed investments. For beekeepers the investment proposed must be at least €2,000 (excluding VAT) and approved investments will need to be completed by 30th September 2021. Grant aid will not be considered for works which commence before the issue of the respective letter of approval by the Department.
In the case of beekeeping items funded previously under this Scheme have included hives (excluding frames and bees), vapourisers (to apply Api-bioxal), honey extraction, storage and jarring equipment as well as honey houses (both new and renovated).
As the funds available under the Scheme are limited, investments will be in competition for grant aid. Beekeeper scale needs to justify the investment involved and costs must be appropriate.
