Only registered importers may apply to bring plants and plant produce into Ireland from a third country outside the European Union. This system is in place to prevent outbreaks of pests or diseases which could harm the country’s agriculture industry.
What you must do
Applicants must complete and submit a Plant Import Request (PIR) Form. Completed application forms must be submitted a minimum of 72 hours prior to the arrival of the consignment. Failure to complete and return this form may result in a delay in the granting of an importation licence.
On receipt, the application will be processed and an Importation Licence, known as a Colorado Beetle (CB Licence) will be issued to the applicant. Importers must confirm the arrival of consignments into Dublin Airport and Dublin Port from third countries by completing the Confirmation of Arrival of Consignment Form.
