There are two strands within this category.
Strand 1 offers a temporary educational measure for a child who is:
Strand 2 of this scheme is for children in care, who are without a school place due to emergency placement or placement disruption.

Application forms for strand 1 are available from the local Educational Welfare Officer. You will find contact details for the Educational Welfare Officer on the TUSLA website.
Application forms for strand 2 are available from the appointed social worker.
This scheme is to provide home tuition to students in a recognised school at post-primary level at junior or senior cycle, whose education may be disrupted due to pregnancy.

The rates for home tuition payments from 01 February 2022 are as follows:
Primary Qualified Rate | €43.34 per hour |
Post Primary Qualified Rate | €47.55 per hour |
Modified Rate | €35.69 per hour |
Please note that the Home Tuition Grant Rate for those paid at the Qualified Primary Rate has been revised with effect from 1 February 2022. This increase has been agreed with the Primary Teacher Unions as part of the Sectoral Bargaining arrangements included in the Building Momentum Pay Agreement.
This increase will be paid from 28/04/2022 and any arrears due have now been issued to the Home Tutors concerned.

Arrangements regarding the post-primary rates are the subject of ongoing negotiations and further information will be provided when this process is completed.
Please note that the Department will no longer accept emailed claim forms for payment for home tuition. From 27th September 2021 all home tuition claim forms must be sent by POST to the Department at the address set out on the home tuition claim form.
