A new Women's Health Taskforce has been established by the Department of Health to improve women’s health outcomes and experiences of healthcare. It met for the first time on 26th September 2019.
The Taskforce will tackle a wide range of issues impacting women’s health outcomes in Ireland which could include:
Some of these issues will be specific to the needs of women in Ireland, many will represent health issues facing women all over the world.
The Taskforce has been established for a two year period and will meet every 4-6 weeks.
The first action will be to lead a ‘radical listening’ exercise that will invite women in Ireland to share their experiences of and solutions for the health system. This data combined with the available evidence will form the basis for future policy and action to improve women’s health in Ireland.
The Taskforce is aiming to be open, inclusive and transparent at every stage of its work. In a couple of weeks the Taskforce will initiate a "Radical Listening" exercise to enable women in all walks of life right across the country to share their views and experiences of the health sector and health services. This will be a significant, substantial and large-scale consultation process.
Thank you for your response to our survey. We are delighted that so many people took part and shared their view. We will be sharing a summary of responses here shortly. Watch this space!
Each week the Taskforce will invite a range of experts to come in to the Department of Health to inform the work of Taskforce.
If you have research, evidence or perspectives on aspects of women’s health which you would be willing to share please email your name, address, and a short description of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org
