The mission of Irish Lights is "Safe Navigation at Sea". We are a statutory body providing a network of visual and electronic aids to navigation around the island of Ireland which act as a critical infrastructure for safe navigation.
We also provide a range of navigation services and we authorise via our Statutory Consent process the marking/lighting of approaches to ports and harbours and all other offshore infrastructure.
Our mission is to monitor, analyse and predict Ireland’s weather and climate and to enhance support for impact-based decision making for weather events. We produce and broadcast specialised forecasts and warnings for Irish coastal waters, the Irish Sea and inland lakes. Working with our Safety On The Water partners our primary objective is to support the protection and safety of life and property at sea, along coasts, and inshore waters of both professional and recreational users Met Éireann Marine
