The Urban Transport-Related Air Pollution (UTRAP) Working Group was formed in late 2019. It is co-chaired by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and the Department of Transport, and consists of representation from a range of key government departments, agencies and local authorities.
The group was established to address rising concerns about the level of transport-generated ambient air pollution in certain areas. In line with its aims, the Group undertook to develop and publish a report that would, for the first time, capture a comprehensive overview of transport-related air pollution in Ireland. An Interim Report was published in March 2021 and a Final Report, along with a Synthesis Report, was published in February 2023.
The Final Report represents an updated assessment of urban transport-related air pollution issues, and related developments, since the publication of the Interim Report.
The Synthesis Report provides an update on the progress related to the recommendations from the Interim Report, highlights the key policy developments since its publication and includes proposals for the future direction and structure of the UTRAP Group.
