The National Risk Assessment is an opportunity to step back from day-to-day concerns and consider the strategic risks facing the country over the medium and long term.

By identifying strategic risks, we can create ensure that they are managed and minimse their their impact.

Risks are classified under:

  • geopolitical
  • economic
  • environmental
  • social
  • technological

The National Risk Assessment has a number of uses. It:

  • identifies strategic risks to Ireland’s future wellbeing
  • allows a a bird’s eye view of the biggest risks facing the country
  • increases awareness and provide a framework for departments to consider actions and plans
