Taoiseach Micheál Martin will visit the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul later today to kick off a week of events to coincide with Ireland’s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
Governor Hochul, an Irish-American and the first woman Governor of New York, will host a bi-lateral meeting with the Taoiseach at her office on Third Avenue, followed by an afternoon press conference.
The Taoiseach and Governor Hochul are expected to discuss a number of issues, including her strong Irish heritage, the ongoing impact of COVID-19, women’s rights and a sustainable economic recovery.
During the day the Taoiseach will also meet Irish diplomats and representatives based in New York and at the United Nations.
