The Minister of State with special responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance, Seán Fleming, held the inaugural meeting of the Joint Fintech Group on Wednesday, 16 November.
The Joint Fintech Group is a priority of the 2022 Update of the Ireland for Finance strategy, which was launched in October.
The purpose of the Group is to:

“I was pleased to have organised and chaired the first meeting of the Joint Fintech Group this week. It’s incredibly important the State and industry are aligned on developing the digital finance sector in Ireland. It was a very open and productive meeting focused on key areas of opportunity for Ireland. I asked industry representatives to provide a list of priorities for the Group, which will be discussed at the next meeting.”
The Joint Fintech Group is currently made up of fourteen members with six from the public sector drawn from the cross-government Fintech Steering Group and eight from the private sector. It will meet twice a year.
