The Minister for Education Norma Foley TD has congratulated Aditya Joshi and Aditya Kumar from Synge Street CBS, Dublin who have won the top prize at this year’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
This year’s winning project was titled: "A New Method of Solving the Bernoulli Quadrisection Problem".
Attending the virtual awards ceremony, Minister Foley said:
“I would like to sincerely congratulate Aditya Joshi and Aditya Kumar on winning this hugely prestigious trophy. It is a phenomenal achievement in a competition which has such a high standard. It is encouraging to witness the level of creativity and innovation of this year’s entrants as demonstrated through their meticulously researched and ingenious projects. Well done to you all.
“Now in its 58th year the BT Young Scientist awards is a truly spectacular event, effortlessly inimitable in its breadth of vision and proof that a greater imagination of the possible can break ground in the most challenging of times.”
Minister Foley added:
“This is the second virtual incarnation of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition and it seems fitting that science and software can bring us together, enabling us to share in the celebration of knowledge, talent and hard work. The virtual nature of the exhibition also allows us to bring this wonderful occasion to a worldwide audience. I would also like to acknowledge all of the teachers and mentors who also give so generously of their time and expertise to support all of these students on their journey. Thank you to the parents and families for your unwavering support."
The Minister concluded:
“For the first time this year the Department of Education is sponsoring a special award for the best entry in the area of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), with the aim of inspiring the innovation needed to be sustainable into the future. ESD is an important focus of for the department and we hope that the projects in this area will help to inform future policy in this area. I would like to congratulate Lilian Gleave from Kinsale Community School on being the inaugural winner of this award.”
