Organic Operators in Ireland and across the European Union who produce, prepare or distribute organic produce for sale, or import from a third country to sell on, must be inspected and registered. This is required under European Union regulations.
The Organic Operator must notify the details of their organic enterprise to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine as the Competent Authority. They must submit their enterprise for inspection and certification by one of the following Organic Control Bodies:
