If you are finding it difficult to pay your energy bills, please be advised:

Contacting your energy supplier is a good first step
You will not be disconnected if you are engaging with your supplier, so talking to them early is important
Suppliers will offer a repayment plan that takes into account your ability to pay if you have built up any debt
Many suppliers are also signed up to the Energy Engage Code which offers a range of protections once you engage with your supplier
Your energy supplier may have a hardship fund aimed at helping customers experiencing financial difficulty, more information on this can be found on your supplier’s website

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) have announced moratoriums on disconnections for all domestic electricity and gas customers for the coming winter. The moratorium for customers registered as being particularly vulnerable will cover a six month period from 1 October 2023 until 31 March 2024. The moratorium for all domestic customers has been extended again this year from 1 December 2023 until 31 January 2024.
