Before you try to fulfil your obligations or exercise your rights in connection with available public preventive healthcare measures, check if you or your family members are covered by health insurance in Ireland.
If you do not have full healthcare cover, you may be required to pay the associated costs in full.
You should consult your GP regarding preventive check-ups.
Health insurance companies also inform anyone with health insurance about preventive check-ups aimed at protecting their health.
EU citizens who want to undergo a selected preventive check-up or treatment with a healthcare provider in Ireland should consult their health insurance company or the national contact point of their country about the possibility of coverage or reimbursement of costs of these procedures.
The purpose of preventive health care check-ups is to identify already developed diagnoses, but also diagnoses that have not yet clinically manifested as well as identifiable risk indicators of a disease. Therefore, it is very important to keep preventive check-ups in mind.
