Professor Michelle Norris

Michelle Norris is Full Professor of Social Policy and Director of the Geary Institute for Public Policy at UCD.

Her teaching and research focus on housing policy and urban regeneration and she has led 25 research projects on these issues.

She has strong links with policy makers in Ireland and internationally. She has served on the boards of two of the main agencies responsible for providing social housing in Ireland -the Housing Finance Agency and Land Development Agency and as member of the Housing Commission established by the Irish Government which reported in 2024.

She was one of lead authors of the Housing2030 report on improving affordable housing outcomes commissioned by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and UN Habitat.

She is coordinator of the €4.4 million Horizon Europe funded project EqualHouse, which examines policy responses to housing inequality in Europe and is a partner in the €6 million Horizon Europe funded project Ruralize (Revitalising Rural Communities).
